Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
In an effort to make Parliament accessible for the entire community, the Government put forward a proposal to the DPC this morning for an external lift to be built on the rear of the building, allowing for disabled members of the community access to the public gallery.
The Government today outlined plans to implement the first in a series of 0.5MW wave generators, in an attempt to move towards renewable energy sources for Gibraltar.
The pilot project, discussed during today’s meeting of the Development and Planning Commission, will be developed at Ammunition jetty, which is located underneath the Dudley Ward Tunnel.
During this morning’s Development and Planning Commission meeting, a series of Government developments were discussed, including a proposed 8-floor extension to St. Bernard’s Hospital that will allow for the GHA’s services to be re-distributed. The extension is set to be built in the courtyard, behind the main hospital building.
