Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
At a presentation ceremony on Tuesday the 26th of February 2013 Commissioner Eddie Yome presented eight members of police staff with certificates recognising loyal service to the Royal Gibraltar Police.
The staff members included; Ms Maria Luisa Pau, Mrs Angela Posso and Mrs Michelle Sisarello who have all served twenty five years with the RGP. Also receiving awards were, Ms Joan Coelho, Ms Sandra Lane, Mrs Macarena Munoz who have worked with the force for twenty years and Mrs Nuria Fagan and Mrs Karen Torres who have worked with the RGP for fifteen years.
Conservative MEP for the South West of England and Gibraltar, Mr Giles Chichester paid the Royal Gibraltar Police a courtesy visit on Monday the 4th March 2013.
Mr Chichester met with Commissioner Eddie Yome, Superintendent Acris and Superintendent Mifsud. A number of issues of interest were discussed.
Last Summer, 8 year old Ben Donohue, who lives in Gibraltar with his family, carried out a 5 mile swim to raise funds for the Neuroblastoma Children’s Cancer Alliance and critically ill 6 year old, Jamie Inglis. . Sadly Jamie lost his battle with Neuroblastoma in January this year.
At the suggestion of its new leader Nick Cruz, the PDP have in the last few weeks met with the Moroccan Workers Association, the Defenders of Gibraltar and the Gibraltar Heritage Trust in order to continue its outreach campaign, initiated in early 2010. The party will shortly be meeting the NASWUT/ Gibraltar Teachers Association.
