Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The dedication of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to her duties provided a touchstone to all members of the judiciary of the work ethic that was required of them in Her Courts.
It is with great sadness that Gibraltar’s judiciary receives the news of her death albeit accompanied by a sense of privilege and pride to have served in Her Courts whilst she was our Monarch.
A condolence book will be available to members of the public in the foyer of The Convent, from Friday 9th September to Friday 16th September, 09:30 – 16:30 each day.
The Self-Determination for Gibraltar Group expresses its deepest condolences to all members of the Royal Family on the passing of Her Majesty the Queen.
Below follows a statement from His Excellency The Governor, Vice Admiral Sir David Steel:
Following a lifetime of incomparable service to her people, in the United Kingdom, the Overseas Territories, the Crown Dependencies and the Commonwealth, our Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II, has passed away.
Across the world, not just within every nation of the Commonwealth, people will mourn her passing. She has been a beacon of fortitude, hope and kindness.
