Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Government says it is pleased to note the delayed closure of the Main Street branch of Barclays Bank and of the accounts of their customers there. The Government says it has worked closely with the senior management of Barclays on various matters relating to their Gibraltar operations including the date of closure, which has now been extended a further time, staff matters and other operational issues.
Mrs Tobie Franklin D Roosevelt, a member of the Gibraltar American Council, received the Medallion of Honour from Chief Minister Fabian Picardo at a ceremony at the New York Athletic Club last week.
With the Royal Marines’ 350th Anniversary celebrations coming up very soon, former Royal Marine, Mark Ormrod, whose life has been aided massively by the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, which the celebrations will serve to raise money for, will take part in the Rock Run, along with Superman star Henry Cavill.
