The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation into the allegation that ‘whistle-blowers’ were incentivised to provide evidence to the McGrail Inquiry “has not uncovered any evidence that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution for Misconduct in Public Office.”
Special Olympics Gibraltar will hold the 28th Summer Games this year on 25th, 26th and 27th June. The organization welcomes teams from the Isle of Man, Andorra, Barbate and Algeciras.
The Opening Ceremony will take place at the Victoria Stadium on the 25th at 6pm and this will include entertainment by various dance groups and singers who all generously volunteer their time.
The football events will be held at the Victoria Stadium 5-a-side pitch opposite the boathouse on the 26th commencing at 9am. With five teams participating this should prove exciting and challenging for the athletes.
Officers of HM Customs intercepted two men during an attempt to export cigarettes at British Lines Road late last night. The men fled the scene when challenged by Customs; the officers detained their vehicle.
BabySTEPPs will be hosting their biggest event to date: Gibraltar’s first ever Pramathon. Vice-chairperson Louise says “a Pramathon is simply a charity walk WITH prams so we encourage all the family to come along with their buggies and take part in the event. This is a family event, and contrary to other charity walks, we invite all participants young and old to come along and “push” something along the way. Whether it’s a pram, a wheelchair, a toy car, a toy buggy or those tug-a-long toys, bring them with you on Saturday. Let’s make this a fun and memorable event”.
A child attending two nurseries in Gibraltar has been found to have tuberculosis. Although the child is only weakly positive for infectivity, the GHA is offering TB testing as a precautionary measure to all the children with whom the child might have been in close contact. GHA Infection Control Nurses are currently making arrangements to contact the parents and offer skin tests to the children.
