The Government welcomes the summoning to the Foreign Office of the Spanish Ambassador to the United Kingdom in order to protest about the actions of a Spanish naval vessel in the proximity of Gibraltar yesterday.
The GSD has taken note of the UK Government’s recent extensive Cabinet shuffle, acknowledging the work done by the outgoing Foreign Secretary, William Hague. The party goes on to wish Mr. Hague all the best in his new role as Leader of the House of Commons ‘and in the future when he leaves Parliament after the next General Election’.
The Foreign Office has, for the fifth time since December 2011, summoned the Spanish Ambassador after an incident yesterday in which a Spanish Navy ship attempted to interfere with the passage of two commercial vessels that were travelling to and from Gibraltar. The incident is reported to have taken place in international waters near the Rock.
