Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The large Guardia Civil vessel, Rio Pas, was spotted yesterday evening approaching every tanker anchored in the Bay in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters. The Spanish state vessel went from tanker to tanker, slowing down to observe bunkering operations.
Conservative MEPS have today condemned the Spanish border control’s banning of construction material being exported into Gibraltar. Julie Girling, Giles Chichester and Ashley Fox insist that the move was ‘illegal and illogical’ and would harm Spanish citizens more than Gibraltarians.
In a joint statement, the three Gibraltar MEPS claim that ‘Spain must realise that this posturing will get them nowhere. It is time the bullying stopped. Their latest attempt to cause disruption is not only illegal, it is also illogical.’
The Gibraltar Heritage Trust is today inviting nominations from the public, for this year’s round of Heritage Awards. The awards are aimed at individuals who have made outstanding contribution to Gibraltar’s heritage. Slipt into three categories, nominations for the Junior Heritage Award covers projects carried out by a school, youth group or individual under the age of 16.
