European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
This week’s Spanish incursions and excessive frontier delays were the subject of numerous questions posed by MPs this lunchtime in the House of Commons.
Preparation for the event of a Radiation hazard was this morning carried out in the test of the Nuclear Emergency Response Plan that would be jointly implemented between the MoD and the Gibraltar Government. The training exercise involved a gamut of emergency services and high profile MoD personnel, as well as Minister Linares and Dr Cortes, who is the chairman of the Radiation Response Committee. GHA CEO Freddie Pitto and Director of Public Health Dr Kumar were also in attendance.
With chants of the 500 strong gathering of GFA fans, and local supporters filling the Estadio do Algarve in Portugal’s Faro, the team played strong defence in their first ever UEFA Friendly against Slovakia, last night.
With a final score of 0 – 0, GFA head coach told local and International Media that it was a dream come true and a dream start for the team. He added, ‘we were just hoping for the counter-attack and that is the game we played. [Slovakia] are very high in the ranking and to come here and get a draw is a dream come true.’
Following the recent typhoon in the Philippines, the Rotary Club of Gibraltar has this week made a £2,000 donation to 'ShelterBox'. This is an international disaster relief charity specialising in emergency shelter provision for people in times of crisis.
