European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
2013 proved to be yet another busy year for the RGP’s Charity Committee. Over £15000 was raised by its members throughout the year. A significant proportion of the funds were raised under the auspices of the annual Mini Olympiad held in October. This popular sporting event, held under the banner of ‘LOVE LIFE, LIVE SPORT’, brings together schoolchildren, Police Officers, teachers, sporting associations and parents alike.
Presenting to the DPC their redevelopment of Rosia Bay, Europa Point Marine Village Limited outlined their proposal to develop the existing mole to feature commercial units and a timber walkway. They also spoke of the proposal’s inclusion of a beach, beach restaurant, car park and an indoor water theme park to be built by North American water attraction giants White Water Industries.
Tabled before the Development and Planning Commission this morning, the Caleta hotel’s flagship refurbishment proposal included a new five star rating, 6 more floors added to the existing building, and a further set of residential apartments where the current unused annex currently stands.
The GSD Opposition notes with regret that part of a prime cultural site at the Ince's Hall complex is to be used to house the new Gibraltar International Bank. The Opposition believes that this area should have been enhanced and developed exclusively for cultural purposes. The party insists that had they been elected, they would have committed themselves to the development of the complex, which together with the John Mackintosh Hall, would have been refurbished holistically as a single site for cultural activities.
