Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia briefly raised the delays at the border with the Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg at the Gibraltar stand during the Liberal Democrat conference in Glasgow. Dr Garcia thanked Mr Clegg for personally pressing the European Commission on the issue.
Plans were announced this morning by the Government outlining the hotly awaited Gibraltar University manifesto commitment. Education Minister Gilbert Licudi, flanked by the Chief Minister and his working team for the project, confidently insisted that the institute for Higher Education would be ready to open its doors by September 2015.
