The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation into the allegation that ‘whistle-blowers’ were incentivised to provide evidence to the McGrail Inquiry “has not uncovered any evidence that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution for Misconduct in Public Office.”
The response by the Minister for Health to the criticism of blatant cronyism in the appointment of so many GSLP activists to the GHA Complaints Panel is just another example of how this so called ‘New Dawn’ Government has paid lip service to its transparency agenda as if they never stood on the “time for change” ticket at the last election, claims the Opposition.
An announcement made by the Government this morning outlines the appointments of two senior staff members at the recently revealed Gibraltar International Bank, which is set for completion by the end of the year.
Mr. Lawrence Podesta, current COO and Deputy CEO of Swiss private bank Lombard Odier Gibraltar, will take on the position of Chief Executive Officer of the National Bank, on 2nd May 2014. Mr. Podesta has formerly occupied a number of senior position within the Bank including that of Financial Controller for the London office of LODH. His banking career kicked off as a Client Relationship Clerk with Barclays Bank in 1976.
