Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Opposition notes the Government's acknowledgement that it has been sitting on a bill for legal aid reform for the last two years and the Minister's acknowledgement in Parliament of the work of the GSD in preparing draft legislation and conducting consultation with the legal profession before December 2011.
The Royal Bank of Scotland is set to pull out of dozens of overseas markets, reports Sky News this afternoon. The report claims that the banking giant is in talks with a number of national banking regulators about pulling out of many of the 38 countries they provide services in. Although the Bank would not respond to Sky News’ questions another source claimed that they would be surprised if the bank retains a presence in more than 15 of the 38 countries.
