Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
An immaculately executed 21 Gun Salute was fired today by Headquarter Company (Thompson’s Battery) of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment to mark the anniversary of the Her Majesty The Queens’ Coronation in 1953.
This weekend Royal Navy Type 45 Destroyer HMS defender will open her doors to the public for an opportunity to meet members of the company and explore the thoroughly captivating features of one of the Royal Navy’s most prominent vessels.
Following the entry into force in Gibraltar of the OECD and Council of Europe Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters earlier this year, the Government can confirm that Gibraltar now has in place a total of 135 tax information exchange arrangements with 80 countries. Particulars of these are shown in the attached schedule.
The GSD has announced a series of detailed proposals to reform and improve Gibraltar’s education system. At a press conference this morning at the party’s HQ in College Lane, GSD members said that, if elected, the proposed changes would take the education and training of Gibraltar’s youth “to another level.”
