The Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation into the allegation that ‘whistle-blowers’ were incentivised to provide evidence to the McGrail Inquiry “has not uncovered any evidence that meets the threshold for criminal prosecution for Misconduct in Public Office.”
The Type 23 frigate HMS Monmouth arrived at the Naval base at lunch time. The ship’s company of around 180 personnel are now looking forward to spending some time ashore in Gibraltar.
Captain Commodore Gordon Ruddock said: “We are delighted to be here at the end of a busy seven month deployment. Gibraltar is the ideal last stop to refuel and stock up, it is also a perfect opportunity for the crew to relax and recuperate for a few days.”
The Governor has today ordered the deportation of a suspected Turkish terrorist who was arrested by the RGP on Wednesday in Casemates. Cengiz Yalcin is classified as a prohibited immigrant under the Immigration Asylum and Refugee Act.
The Royal Gibraltar Police has announced that the six Police Trainees recruited as a result of the joint initiative between the Police and the Ministry for Enterprise, Training and Employment continue to progress through their training programme. Since they joined the organisation in April of this year, they have been receiving instruction and lectures from Police Training Staff, Senior Management, the Gibraltar Police Authority and the Police Council.
The trainees have completed four of the first five weeks of basic training prior to deployment to the Headquarters Division. They have had lessons in criminal liability and law, crime and property procedures, radio procedure, communication skills, first aid at work, Criminal Procedure Codes of Practice and command and dispatch.
Laguna Youth Club will be holding a much-awaited Disco for under 14s next week on Friday 17th May. The Government said that youth workers and trainees have been working hard to give young people a chance to acquire new skills, including learning how to help out in the DJ booth and tuck shop. They say that this has encouraged them to take on new responsibilities and develop a sense of ownership in activities.
