Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Faced with the news of the delay in concluding the agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom on Gibraltar, the Cross Frontier Group has urged negotiators to reach an agreement satisfactory to both parties by the new scheduled date. Despite the technical and political difficulties implicit in the negotiations, the Cross Frontier Group says it hopes that the outcome of these negotiations will make the proclaimed area of shared prosperity a reality.
The Gibraltar Catering Association (GCA) says it is “disappointed” with Business Minister Daryanani’s comments. The GCA says the Minister’s intervention suggests that the Association’s members are somehow being “disingenuous” regarding the struggling Christmas period. The association says that the Minister’s statement that the reports the Government is receiving are that the hospitality sector is busy “could not be further from the truth.”
The GHA says it is pleased to confirm that it has been able to “resolve the clinical issues” that had arisen in respect of the gynaecology service. The GHA says these issues are now being managed in a manner that has enabled short term extensions to be granted to the clinicians in question.
