European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
A training event was recently organised by the Care Agency for those who workclosely with individuals with learning disabilities. The day aimed to raise awareness and understanding of learning disabilities in Gibraltar.
The one day training course was held over 5 consecutive days so that as many staff as possible were able to attend while still operating the service. It was hosted by the British Institute of Learning Disabilities and was attended by approximately 140 people working within different departments of the Care Agency.
Unite the Union has issued the following statement:
Unite the Union would like to add its voice in commemorating the UN day on Human Rights throughout the World. The Trade Union Movement has witnessed how since the commencement of the current financial crisis which started in 2007/08, how hard won benefits and services are being cut particularly throughout Europe. These cuts are having a detrimental effect on the lives of ordinary working people, coupled with very high levels of unemployment, especially among the youth.
