Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Minister for Sports, Steven Linares, and Minister for Equality and Social Services, Samantha Sacramento, have sent the following message to the Gibraltar Special Olympics team:
The GSD Opposition says that it fully supports UEFA football in Gibraltar as it demonstrated while in Government in its support for the GFA Team 54 UEFA bid. It has however today urged the Government to give the location of the proposed new UEFA stadium “further thought” and to “take heed” of public opinion on the matter.
On his second visit in under a year, Shadow Europe Minister Labour MP Gareth Thomas today met with the Chief and Deputy Chief Ministers to discuss various matters including the continuing frontier queues and other matters which the Chief Minister insisted needed to be understood by Westminster, including the UK Government’s Point of Consumption tax which will target Gibraltar based gaming companies and recent attacks on Gibraltar’s Bunkering industry.
The Royal Gibraltar Police have received a number of reports from persons receiving e-mails that appear to be from a local Bank asking them to ‘confirm’ certain details relating to their bank accounts.
