Jul 11 - YGTV Rebranding – It’s Just Around The Corner!

YGTV’s hugely popular website, which keeps you all informed throughout the day, will be re-launched as a fresher, smarter and better site this coming Monday 15th July. YGTV is going from strength to strength – last month alone, we enjoyed 45,269 unique hits and almost 60,000 page views showing that we are, for many, the first port of call for online news in Gibraltar. To keep up with a rapidly changing world, we felt it was time to give our website a makeover so we’ll be presenting a fresher, more user-friendly site in a few days. Unfortunately, this will mean that YGTV’s website will be down during the weekend in the run up to Monday’s launch.

Jul 11 - Western Beach - Temporary Prohibition Of Bathing

Western Beach is subject to discharges of sewage from a storm water drain from La Linea. In order to monitor and provide the public with information on the quality of the bathing water the Environmental Agency samples the water 3 times a week i.e. 6 times the recommended sampling period stipulated in the EU Bathing Water directive.

The latest result taken on the 11th July 2013 has failed to meet the EU bathing water mandatory standards and Government in meeting its requirements under the Environment (Quality of Bathing Water) Regulations 2009 has therefore prohibited bathing.

Jul 11 - Momy’s Biography Launched Later This Month

A book on the life of Momy Levy will be launched later this month at the Convent. Man on the Rock: Mayor Solomon Levy and the Jews of Gibraltar is written by prolific biographer Michael Freedland and is published by Vallentine Mitchell Books. Mr Freedland is a journalist, broadcaster and author of more than 40 books. He writes regularly for The Times and The Guardian, in numerous overseas publications and he broadcasts on the BBC. Among his biographies so far are works on Leonard Bernstein, Fred Astaire and Al Jolson.
