Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Concern has been expressed by the Opposition over the ‘lack of transparency in the process by which housing in the new co-ownership estates is being allocated’. They claim that the process is shrouded in secrecy with public money being used to subsidise ownership.
Lord Justice Green has ruled in favour of the UK Government in the Gibraltar Betting and Gambling Association’s case against the proposed Point of Consumption tax, to be enforced on November 1st.
November 11th will once again mark the signing of the Armistice to signal the end of World War One in 1918. As in previous years, the occasion will be celebrated with a short ceremony at the Lobby of Parliament House where memorials display the names of Gibraltarians who lost their lives in the Wars.
The GSD Opposition have tabled their questions for the next sitting of Parliament scheduled for Thursday 16th October. Leader of the Opposition Daniel Feetham will be posing a series of questions, which are of concern to the party and to the community at large.
