Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Government has today insisted that the Opposition ‘has once again exposed itself to being found well short’ in it’s criticism of Dr. Cortes’ handling of Upper Rock surveillance and management. A No.6 statement insisted, ‘stating that Minister for the Environment Dr John Cortes has "abandoned" the Upper Rock is another example of the Opposition falling into the trap of assuming that just because it isn't aware of something, it isn't happening.’
Saturday December 9th will see Gibraltar host its inaugural ‘Small business Saturday’. The brainchild of the USA, Small Business Saturday aims to promote shopping locally through promotions and discounts put on by local retailers.
The idea was put to Minister for Small Businesses, by Gibraltar Federation for Small Businesses president Gemma Arias, as well as local Main Street trader, Raju Purswani.
Halloween night has passed with no incidents to note, even less than in the past two years. This most certainly is due to the assistance of the general public, but the RGP would like to highlight the help of certain groups that have made a difference, these are our schools and teachers, parents of the younger elements of our community, housing estates associations and individuals who have organised events that went very well and everybody enjoyed fully.
