Dec 13 - New Bat Species for Gibraltar
A new species of bat to Gibraltar, the Isabelline Serotine Eptesicus isabellinus, was captured during a recent netting session at the Gibraltar Botanic Gardens.
This is one of the highlights of a collaborative study of Gibraltar’s bats by the Gibraltar Museum and GONHS with the help of a team of specialists from the UK. The project, supported by the Ministry for the Environment aims to establish a better understanding of our local bats' habits and monitor resident and non- resident species over the next three years.
The Chief Minister yesterday held a meeting, at the invitation of the La Linea Mayor, with senior members of the PSOE, to discuss concerns from both sides, in respect of the effect that present frontier restrictions are having on both Gibraltar and La Linea.
On Tuesday 3rd December St Joseph’s First School took part in World Disability day. This event is celebrated throughout the world and helps to promote public awareness through education and hopes to break barriers and build a more inclusive society. The aim of the day was to promote an understanding of what it means to have a disability and to help the children develop an awareness of needs, and respect of the differences between people in their local community.
The Royal Gibraltar Police Drug Squad has arrested and charged 18 year old local man, Daniel Gaivizo on suspicion of drugs offences.
