Apr 02 - GSD Welcomes Local Nurse Training

gsdIn a statement released today, the GSD has welcomed the Government’s recent announcement for the local training of nurses. The party adds that the initiative is a learning pathway that started in September 2009, when the NVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care was first launched. The Opposition insists that it is thanks to the GSD that nurses have the tools necessary ‘not only to be proficient at their practice through continuous professional development, but also have the means to develop as nurse managers’.

Apr 02 - Injured Soldiers to Holiday in Gibraltar

give us timeIn the next two weeks, several injured soldiers will be visiting Gibraltar, courtesy of a charity called ‘Give Us Time’. The charity, founded by former UK Defence Secretary Dr. Liam Fox, aims to provide holidays for soldiers recently returned from operational duties. These soldiers require quality time with their families in order to reintegrate into family life and to recuperate after six difficult months apart.

Apr 02 - A Weekend for Racing

thunder catsThis weekend Gibraltar’s Eastern Beach will play host to the gripping opening of the ThunderCat Racing British National Championship Rounds 1 & 2. The sport, not widely known yet, involves lightweight catamarans that course through the sea spray at 65 mph.

The weekend long event will make up the Gibraltar Grand Prix between Friday 5th April and Sunday 7th. Amongst the competitors heading to Gibraltar to participate are world surf champions, students and all around adrenaline junkies.
