Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Government has hit back at the GSD Opposition in the latest row over Gibraltar’s power supply infrastructure. A statement from Number 6 released this afternoon says that, at a time when Gibraltar is pulling together against its detractors, certain local politicians have “seized the opportunity” to be “openly critical” of the Rock’s infrastructure without care or thought as to the impact of their statements on important sectors of our community.
The GSD Opposition has expressed its concern in relation to the wider economic and community issues arising from the difficulties being experienced with the supply of electricity in Gibraltar. The GSD says that those difficulties have “obviously been brought into sharp focus” by the events of the Easter weekend.
Officers of the Royal Gibraltar Police’s Crime Unit investigating three robberies and an attempted robbery have arrested a 37 year old local man and a 43 year old local woman.
