Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Noting what he describes as the GSD’s “latest attempt to grab headlines with an inane rant on tourism”, the Minister for Tourism the Vijay Daryanani has reacted to the latest statement from Damon Bossino.
The GSD says it is “aghast” at the admission by the Minister for Tourism, Mr Vijay Daryanani, during last week’s GBC Viewpoint debate with shadow Tourism Minister, Damon Bossino, to the effect that the Gibraltar Government had decided not to have a stand at the Fitur tourism fair in Madrid a few weeks ago.
The GSD has said that the decision to halt the prosecution in the Bland - 36 North case was taken by the Attorney General “in the political public interest” and not for reasons of national security. The party also says that the decision has had the effect of “burying material that is politically uncomfortable or damaging” to the Chief Minister.
Gibraltar Cultural Services, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, has announced another interesting and varied programme of events for the 2022 Youth Arts Jamboree. Activities as part of this year’s YAJ will mainly run from 14th February to 12th March. GCS collaborators have designed tailor made workshops and tutorials covering different aspects of the arts which GCS says it is sure will be as much educational as it will be enjoyable.
