Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Staff and students from the Gibraltar College have donated £250 to the Prostate Cancer Support Group after staff members participated in Movember. The money was also collected from a weekly contribution by the Staff for dress-down Fridays as well as a collection from students.
A heavy and persistent fog over the South East of England has led to numerous flights from the capital’s airports being cancelled or delayed. Luckily, the only local flight affected is the British Airways Heathrow service which will now arrive at 16:00 instead of the scheduled time of 14:05.
In this, the final talk in this year’s Museum Lecture Series, the Chief Executive of the GFA and former HM Government of Gibraltar Archivist, Mr Dennis Beiso, will be discussing the complex interplay of factors that have contributed to the evolution of the Gibraltarian national identity, looking in particular at social and political developments after the Second World War and how these helped to mould Gibraltarian identity today. His talk is entitled: “A History of Gibraltar in Five Parts: Part 5 – the History of an Identity”
