Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Gibraltar Social Democrat Opposition continues to very carefully monitor developments in relation to Barclays Bank.
From the moment that the bank made its recent announcement to radically reduce its services in Gibraltar, the party highlighted what it considers as the important issues which required to be tackled as matters of priority, namely the employees’ future and the banking service requirements of our community, such as mortgage lending.
Marking the 208th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, the traditional Act of Remembrance was held in the Trafalgar Cemetery. Wreaths were placed on the graves of those who died as a result of the Battle by Commander Steve Thomas.
Local South West Conservative MEP, Ashley Fox, is to visit Gibraltar from Sunday 27th to Tuesday 29th October. Gibraltar, which forms part of the South West of England region for the purpose of European Elections, has been represented by Mr Fox since 2009.
