Apr 22 - Governor Shoots Down Marine Expert’s Parliament Comments on Defence of Gibraltar Waters

governorThe Governor’s Office has insisted today that comments made by Dr. Chris Tydeman in his evidence to the UK’s House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee ‘do not accurately reflect either the Governor’s Constitutional role or his public position on sovereign issues’.

A statement insists that the UK does not recognise Spain’s SCI listing nor its attempt to designate an SAC. This position has been made clear to the Spanish Government and was even highlighted during the Foreign Secretary’s statement to Parliament on December 10th 2012.

Apr 22 - Gibraltar Museum Presents ‘The History of Gibraltar in Five Parts’

museum The Gibraltar Museum has announced a series of forthcoming lectures for 2013. The series is entitled ‘The History of Gibraltar in Five Parts’ and will see a number of speakers explore multiple interlinked facets of the Rock’s varied past, which together have helped to create the Gibraltar of today.

The series opens on Tuesday 30th April, at 7pm, at the John Mackintosh Hall with Professor Clive Finlayson’s part 1, ‘History of a Beacon’.

Apr 19 - Chief Minister Presented with Chipolina GFA Shirt

gfaJoseph Chipolina of the Gibraltar Football Association this morning presented Chief Minister Fabian Picardo with his football shirt, to be framed and hung on the wall at Number 6 Convent Place. Joseph Chipolina scored the first ever goal during an official UEFA competition, at the futsal tournament carried out in Nice earlier this year.

Joseph expressed his pride and honour at presenting the Chief Minister with his shirt. He added that he hoped the future brought great success for the team, and more goals would be scored during official UEFA games.
