The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
Gibraltarian playwright Julian Felice will be launching a collection of his plays at Bayside Drama Studio on Wednesday 2nd March at 19:00. Entitled Three Gibraltar Plays, the book brings together the plays that he has written about Gibraltar, each of them exploring different issues about the writer’s homeland.
Gibraltar Port is scheduled to receive 227 cruise calls this year, which is an 11% increase on last year, which in itself was a record year. These visits will bring an estimated 350,000 passengers.
The Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for European Affairs, Dr Joseph Garcia, has written to the European Commission in order to set the record straight following “misinformation about Gibraltar propagated” by a Spanish MEP.
The nine contestants for Miss Gibraltar all met for the first time on Friday. They did so during the official hand-over meeting to the show’s producers, Stage One.
