Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Royal Gibraltar Police wishes to warn computer users following reports of Malware (malicious software) scams circulating on the internet purporting to be from law enforcement agencies. This specific type of malware locks screens and requests members of the public to pay a fine to get their computers unlocked. The malware infects personal computers after users have accessed certain websites. There are similar scams involving Microsoft.
A local man together with a juvenile were arrested at Casemates Square on suspicion of going equipped for burglary in the early hours of the 25th of June following an operation by officers of the Criminal Investigation Department.
In an attempt to tackle the ever-present issue of drug and alcohol abuse within Gibraltar, an inter-ministerial committee was formed today, marking International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The committee is set to be chaired by Care Agency Minister Samantha Sacramento and will include Justice Minister Gilbert Licudi, health minister Dr. John Cortes, Sports and Youth minister Steven Linares and a number of other participants including the Care Agency CEO, Chief Inspector Richard Ullger of the RGP, and a number of health experts.
