Mr President, distinguished guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, Thank you for your kind invitation to address you tonight. Or perhaps, should I say, thank you for reserving for me a front bench seat to hear your wish list of issues... Let me start with an apology.
The first phase of the Government’s programme to carry out improvements to the tourism product has come to fruition. Works have already been completed at the Great Siege Tunnels, Moorish Castle, the 100 Ton Gun exhibition, St Michael’s Cave, Jews’ Gate, Apes’ Den, the Gibraltar Cruise Terminal and Waterport Fountain along with minor works at other locations.
Following considerable refurbishment work and other improvements at the John Mackintosh Hall, its various facilities will now be open on Saturdays. This will be of particular interest to users of the library and of the Library Café.
A series of drug awareness talks with the theme “Drugs, your choice of life.” delivered to Year 7 children by the RGP’s School Liaison Officers and Mr John Montegriffo of the Care Agency have culminated in an inter-school football tournament. Yesterday the Year 7 girls took to the field at the Hargreaves five-a-side pitch.
