Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Gibraltar Lib Dem MEP Sir Graham Watson today announced a feat for Gibraltar with an amendment calling for air passenger rights for those flying in and out of Gibraltar, being approved in a debate held in European Parliament in Strasbourg.
Dr Joseph Garcia, Deputy Chief Minister and Chairman of one of main sponsors, Gibtelecom visited the 2014 Tradewise Chess Festival yesterday morning. During his visit he affirmed his support and that of the Gibraltar Government to the tournament, which has now become the most important open in the world.
Spanish ecological group ‘Verdemar’ has been less welcoming towards the ship, with Spanish daily Europa Sur claiming that the group has warned Spanish authorities that the dredging works to accommodate the flotel has massively increased the daily output of ‘hazardous waste’ from Gibraltar.
The Gibraltar FA has today announced the appointment of the association’s new Communications Manager, Steven Gonzalez.
Steven is a Media Graduate with a Masters in Multimedia Sports Journalism and has experience of dealing and handling international Media having spent time studying and working with Eurosport in Madrid.
