Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The GSD Opposition has today called upon the Government to commit to replacing the Gibibikes urban bike hire scheme, before the end of their first term. GSD transport spokesman Selwyn Figueras has claimed that the scheme proved extremely popular amongst cross-frontier workers and played a part in encouraging individuals to choose and alternative form of transport for getting around in Gibraltar.

During the month of January. The Royal Gibraltar Police carried out an extensive enforcement action to counter tobacco related illicit activities in Gibraltar and by the Frontier. The clamp down resulted in 20 arrests for the possession of a Commercial Quantity of Tobacco, 3 arrests for the concealment of tobacco in public and 4 arrests for exporting a commercial quantity of tobacco. The arrests came about in sixteen different incidents.
