Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
The Chief Minister has returned to Gibraltar today after a successful visit to Seville and Madrid.
During the visit Mr Picardo met with almost all political forces in Spain and, in particular, held a lengthy meeting and dinner with senior members of the leadership of the PSOE to further the already established links between that party and the GSLP which Mr Picardo leads.
The Government has said that the latest post budget advertisement from the GSD serves to clearly demonstrate to everyone how Mr Feetham sets out purposely to mislead the public in relation to economic affairs.
A statement issued this afternoon by Number 6 continues:
Unite the union’s Young Members Committee says that for too long in Gibraltar, governments have believed there is only one way to success which is to follow the academic route through GCSEs, to A-levels, and the subsequent study of a traditional academic subject at university. The Committee believes that although this route has worked for many, it doesn’t suit those who decide not to undertake further studies many of whom, it says, are being let down.
