Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Last year Childline Gibraltar received 781 calls to the Helpline and 21% of these were bullying related. A further 23% were abuse-related and it is important to note that most cases of abuse also involve some degree of bullying. The charity believes that this clearly demonstrates that bullying amongst young people is an issue in Gibraltar.
Early yesterday morning, RGP Officers challenged five men acting suspiciously in the area of Camp Bay when they realised that they were in possession of five bales of Cannabis Resin. Three of the men, namely Juan Diego Araujo De Vera, aged 40 of No.15 Stanley Buildings, Francisco Jesus Guerrero Navas, aged 23 of La Linea and Mohamed Tarik Baraka Taher, aged 39 of Ceuta were arrested on suspicion of Possession of a Controlled Drug.
This afternoon a further contestant signed up for Miss Gibraltar 2014. The Miss Gibraltar Office, along with all of this year's contestant's and last year's winner will man a Miss Gibraltar 2014 Recruitment stand in Casemates Square this afternoon, in an attempt to entice girls to enter.
Following much deliberation, the jury for the Mark Montovio trial this afternoon came to a majority verdict of not guilty against the six charges of indecent assault.
