European Commission Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič, Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation José Manuel Albares and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, together with the Chief Minister of Gibraltar Fabian Picardo, met in Brussels earlier today.
Gibraltar has been given a ‘clean bill of health’ on a number of EU matters that were put to the European Commission recently. Gibraltar MEP Sir Graham Watson has told the Government that there are no infringement proceedings against the United Kingdom concerning the non-transposition of Directives on financial services in Gibraltar. The Commission added that there are no Directives on exchange of information or mutual assistance on tax matters outstanding for transposition in Gibraltar.
Gibraltar is exhibiting at the World Travel Market currently being held at the Excel Exhibition Centre in London one of the largest international gatherings of the travel and tourism industry.
Minister for Tourism, Public Transport, Commercial Affairs and the Port, Neil Costa MP heads the local delegation, which comprises of industry partners from Gibraltar and Gibraltar Tourist Board officials.
Dubbed the ‘Festival of Lights’, both the Christmas Lights and Casemates Christmas Tree will be lit on Friday 22nd November 2013 at the John Mackintosh Square. The event is set to include musical entertainment, the traditional school choir, arts and crafts and an appearance by Santa Claus and his elves.
