Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
"I welcome the fantastic news that the Gibraltar FA has finally been admitted to UEFA. It has been a monumental effort by Team 54 and their supporters. For 120 years football has been an important part of life in Gibraltar for young and old alike and this is a big step in promoting further sporting development.
The Gibraltar football team has just been granted full membership of UEFA. The team becomes the 54th nation to be recognised by European football’s governing body.

Sitting adjacent to the delegation from the Spanish Football Association, the Gibraltar FA delegates, President Gareth Latin, General Secretary, Richard Manning and Dennis Beiso, the UEFA liason officer took their places at the 2013 UEFA Congress in the Grand Hall of the Grosvenor House Hotel, earlier this morning.
Last April 30th the Gibraltar Multiple Sclerosis Society celebrated their official launch and also their first ever "Wear Orange for MS Day"
A spokesperson said: “Many joined in with wearing orange but not everyone sent us photos or came to have some taken with us but we had a fantastic response which was way more than we had expected!”
