Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
At day 4 of the Special Olympics European Summer Games in Belgium, Nigel Baglietto won a gold medal for Special Olympics Gibraltar in the 200 metre sprint. A bronze medal was won by Virginia Wink in the 100 metre sprint. Gibraltar teammates Dorrian Zammitt & Aloha Finlayson also won bronze in the bocce doubles.
Gibraltar’s only competitive paintballer, Zane Mañasco, has reached the final stage of the Spanish XPL League after his team ‘Overkilling’ clinched the top spot last weekend in Madrid. ‘Overkilling’ are currently top of the league and on blistering form.
I-Care, led by Xavier van de Stappen, is visiting Gibraltar for a series of workshops and events in partnership with the ESG’s Clean up the World flagship campaign. The I-Care is an exciting project that is currently building a number of prototype electric vehicles, made from sustainable or recycled materials that are then used in exhibitions and rallies around the world reinforcing the benefits of electric mobility. During his stay in Gibraltar, Xavier and his team will be holding a number of public workshops as well as addressing a number of schools.
The newly named ‘Temple Way’, leading up to the Hindu temple and Engineer’s Lane car park, was yesterday inaugurated by the Chief Minister, in the presence of a number of members of the Hindu community in Gibraltar.
