Aug 20 - Spanish Writer Urges Spaniards to Visit Gibraltar

Siempre me he considerado una persona de derechas: he defendido hasta la saciedad la esencia de España como nación y me he sentido español hasta la médula. Me ha indignado cuando catalanes, vascos o andaluces han intentado falsear la historia de nuestro país para camuflar sus disparates históricos, pero no puedo con los patriotas de salón, con todos esos, con los que puedo compartir muchas cosas, pero que se ciegan ante una realidad.
Equality Rights Group in partnership with Plymouth & South West England Friends of Gibraltar Group have today announced the launch of ‘Thumbs Up for Gibraltar’, a campaign aimed, in its first stages, at generating public support throughout the SW of England by calling on David Cameron to award the George Cross to the People of Gibraltar.
Following a call made by UK Prime Minister David Cameron to EU Commission President Barroso regarding the on-going dispute between Gibraltar and Spain, the UK Government has stated that Mr. Cameron made clear that he would prefer to resolve the issue through political dialogue.
During the departure of the Fred Olsen cruise liner from the Cruise Terminal yesterday the ship paid tribute to Gibraltar by playing ‘the Land of Hope and Glory’ over the loudspeaker system.
