The GSD says it welcomes the statement made by the GFA that it has listened to the objections from a very significant section of the community against the building of the National Football Stadium at Europa Point. The Opposition says it hopes that the statement signifies that it has identified an alternative site for the stadium. The party says that building a stadium at Europa Point “was not in the interests of the community or football as a whole” and that its own opposition to the project “has been consistent and clear from the very outset.”
A meeting of the Development and Planning Commission (DPC) this morning approved the granting of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) certificate to the proposed development of a new power station at the North Mole. The approval is subject to certain conditions being met including the green light being given to an LNG storage facility and the use of advanced pollution mitigation technology.
The Leader of the Opposition, Danny Feetham, has said that the latest incident in BGTW involving the SVA during which shots have now been confirmed to have been fired by officers on the Spanish vessel, “justifies all the concerns raised by the GSD over the last year.”
