Sep 16 - Customs Make Huge Cigarette Haul

customsCustoms Officers yesterday detained a locally registered vehicle in the Devil’s Tower Road area consequent to officers noticing suspicious activity in the vicinity. The car was conveyed to a Customs area and subsequently searched; this search resulted in the find of 14,400 cigarettes (72 cartons) concealed within the vehicle.

Sep 16 - Battle of Britain Commemorations

raf typhoonThis weekend Gibraltar commemorated the Battle of Britain with a series of events. The RAF building found to the south of the runway was renamed The Rene Mouchotte building in memory of a French Air Force Pilot who died following the Battle of Britain. The unveiling was carried out by Air Chief Marshall Sir Stuart Peach. The event was attended by TV Presenter Jan Leeming, who recently produced a documentary on Rene Mouchette, for the BBC.
