thundercatsDespite today’s unpredictable spout of showers, the ThunderCat Racing Gibraltar Grand Prix practice day went ahead as planned. The morning saw present teams prepare their catamarans, be briefed on safety aspects and carry out a full afternoon of practice runs. Tomorrow promises much more excitement with races kicking off as from 11 am.

Yesterday evening saw the official launch of the ThunderCat racing weekend, with Joe Hernandez of the GSLA welcoming organisers and participants of the event to Gibraltar. He insisted that he hoped this weekend would encourage participants to bring the tournament back to Gibraltar once again. The launch was also attended by Commissioner of the RGP, Eddie Yome.

Apr 05 - Chief Inspector Ullger Graduates from FBI National Academy Law Enforcement Course

fbiDetective Chief Inspector Richard Ullger of the RGP graduated from his course at the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia USA. The Academy is a professional course of study for U.S. and international law enforcement leaders that serves to improve the administration of justice in police departments and agencies and to raise law enforcement standards, knowledge, and cooperation worldwide.

The course touched upon a number of areas of study including, enlightened leadership, contemporary issues in law enforcement, conflict resolution, ethical dilemmas and fitness in law enforcement. The officers involved participated in a wide range of leadership and specialised training, and they share ideas, techniques, and experiences with each other, creating lifelong partnerships that span US state and international lines.

Apr 05 - FSC CEO Steps Down

fscThe Financial Services Commission has announced today that its Chief Executive Officer Marcus Killick has decided to stand down. Mr. Killick has led the Gibraltar regulator for ten years and has made an outstanding contribution to the ability of the FSC to meet the ever-increasing demands of both the financial sector and international regulatory requirements.

Mr Killick, who is one of the longest serving heads of a financial services regulator in the world, announced his decision to the Board at its meeting in March. He will remain in post until the appointment of his successor, which the Commission hopes can be completed by September 2013.
