Feb 20 - Locals Fined for Window Shutter Theft

gib courtsYesterday morning, locals Stephanie Brabin and Jose Marques Hurtado both pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court, to joint charges of theft and criminal damage.

The case dates to July of 2011 when Brabin and Hurtado, both aged 39, of 3 Raven House, Road to the Lines, were alleged to have stolen and caused damage to four window shutters, the property of the Government of Gibraltar.

Feb 20 - Massive Boost in Gibraltar Bookings for UK Tour Operator

superbreakAccording  UK Gibraltar Tourism Association (UKGTA) member, tour operator Superbreak,  there was a 263% rise in bookings for Gibraltar during the month of January, in comparison to the previous year. An additional 300 clients also booked within January 2013.

The Tour operator claims that the rise comes as a direct correlation between the launch of its new brochure and flight inclusive programme in which Gibraltar now features as a standalone short break destination.

Feb 20 - RGP Vessel, Sir William Jackson, Blessed

rgp vessel namingYesterday afternoon new RGP vessel, the Sir William Jackson was officially named and blessed by Monsignor Paul Bear. Speaking at the launch, which was attended by a number of senior RGP Officers, as well as the Commander of British Forces, Commodore Clink and Governor Sir Adrian Johns, the Chief Minister noted that today’s extreme weather gave us a chance to experience a little bit of what RGP marine Officers deal with in the Strait son a regular basis.
