May 16 - ‘La Voz’ Songstress to Perform at Miss Gibraltar 2013
Stage One has today announced that La Voz sensation; Maika will perform at this Year’s Miss Gibraltar Pageant, to be held at the John Mackintosh Hall on Saturday 8th June. Maika recently launched her first single ‘En tus Manos’, which has soared to number one across a spectrum of digital platforms including iTunes and Spotify.
Commenting on Maika’s performance at the show, Producer James Neish noted, we are very excited with this show and the addition of Maika to the line-up reflects a commitment to do something very different, fresh and dynamic. Together with the already strong local cast announced (This Side Up and Chloe Martinez), Sky news presenter Paula Middlehurst as my co-host and more still to be revealed we are sure it will be a great show.’
During yesterday evening’s Parliament session, in response to questions from the Opposition on the recent incorporation of the temporary power station at the North Mole and whether this still meant that there was a need for a high voltage network system, Minister with responsibility for Utilities, Steven Linares explained that with the commissioning of the Temporary Power Station, new high voltage cables were laid between the site at the North Mole and the Waterport Power Station. Minister Linares added that these new cables had reinforced the high voltage network accordingly. In response, Opposition member Jaime Netto asked whether the Minister believed that the whole grid needed to be reinforced.
The Gibraltar Kennel Club was recently accepted as a full member of the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI), the international federation of kennel clubs following a secret ballot held by member countries who voted to accept Gibraltar’s application by a majority of 32 votes to 26.
