May 16 - ‘La Voz’ Songstress to Perform at Miss Gibraltar 2013

maikaStage One has today announced that La Voz sensation; Maika will perform at this Year’s Miss Gibraltar Pageant, to be held at the John Mackintosh Hall on Saturday 8th June. Maika recently launched her first single ‘En tus Manos’, which has soared to number one across a spectrum of digital platforms including iTunes and Spotify.

May 16 - Luce Foundation Youngsters on Med Steps Outing

luce foundationA number of teenagers participating in this year’s Luce Foundation Programme last week trekked up Mediterranean Steps with Rebecca Figueras of the Youth Service. The outing incorporated team building and familiarisation with the aim of developing and improving relationships between peers and youth workers involved. Trevor Garcia of Bayside School, along with RGP Officers Kenny Kamara and Dani Wink accompanied the group on their hike.

May 16 - Parliament Discusses Works to Power Station Distribution System

parliamentDuring yesterday evening’s Parliament session, in response to questions from the Opposition on the recent incorporation of the temporary power station at the North Mole and whether this still meant that there was a need for a high voltage network system, Minister with responsibility for Utilities, Steven Linares explained that with the commissioning of the Temporary Power Station, new high voltage cables were laid between the site at the North Mole and the Waterport Power Station. Minister Linares added that these new cables had reinforced the high voltage network accordingly.  In response, Opposition member Jaime Netto asked whether the Minister believed that the whole grid needed to be reinforced.
