The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia has said that although Gibraltar prefers a treaty to govern our relationship with the European Union, there are fundamental red lines which the Government is not prepared to cross in order to achieve it. Dr Garcia was speaking in Brighton today at the annual party conference of the U.K. Liberal Democrats.
A local man who was charged with one count of false accounting and one count of conspiracy to defraud this morning heard at the Supreme Court that the Attorney General had decided not to proceed in this matter any further.
Hans Con, a German national living in Gibraltar, this morning pleaded not guilty to one charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm at the Supreme Court. The charge relates to an incident which allegedly took place on the 15th December last year when Con is said to have assaulted a woman.
The Opposition has once again raised the issue of private companies registered under the official residence of the Government, No.6 Covent Place. The party’s concerns and suspicious remain whilst the Government ‘keeps silent despite repeated requests by the Opposition for clarification.’
