The Government says it notes, “with disappointment”, the European Parliament’s objection, today, to the entry into force of the European Commission’s decision to remove certain jurisdictions, including Gibraltar, from the EU’s list of ‘high-risk’ third-countries with strategic deficiencies as regards anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (“AML/CFT”).
The GSD has today challenged Government to publish in full any documents it claims to have received from HSL in relation to the use and storage of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in Gibraltar. The party says it is “unacceptable” that in such an important debate the Government continues to provide only “isolated and unverifiable quotes” from documents it claims to have received but does not publish the document itself.
The Government believes the Lloyd’s Register report was based on false information provided by the Spark Group of Companies and the GSD, and that the Leader of the Opposition’s deception of the people of Gibraltarian is unprecedented.
In the early hours of this morning, RGP officers seized a total of 50,000 cigarettes which were contained in several holdalls within the boot area of a locally registered vehicle driven by a 30-year old local man.
