Sep 02 - Groundbreaking Gorham’s Cave Discovery of Neanderthal Engraving

news Yesterday evening a paper was released by the prestigious Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA, detailing a recent discovery in Gibraltar Gorham’s Cave of the first ever-Neanderthal engraving.

The discovery, made by Franchesco d’Errico of the University of Bordeaux, during a long-term excavation of Gorham’s Cave, was almost unfathomable. The team, also including the Gibraltar Museum’s Professor Clive Finlayson, Dr. Geraldine Finlayson, Francisco Giles Pachaco and Rodrigues Vidal, carried out extensive experiments to prove their belief that the engraving was over 44,000 years old.

Sep 02 - Childline Positive Parenting Course

Childline Gibraltar is pleased to announce that positive parenting courses will recommence this month after the summer break. The new courses will focus upon the different stages of parenting so rather than attending a generic parenting course, parents now have the choice of attending a course specific to their current stage of parenting. These include early years (birth to 4), primary years (5 - 11) and teenagers (12 - 16).

Sep 02 - ESG Prepares for Clean Up the World 2014

cutwLooking ahead to this year’s Clean up the World campaign, the ESG yesterday announced that I-CARE will host an exhibition on renewable energy and sustainable living ‘bringing a fleet of electric cars for various displays’. The Clipperton Project will also sail into Gibraltar to aid with the clean up and collaborate with the Heritage Trust in a number of activities.
