Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Matthew Turnock, Disability Coordinator for Equality Rights Group/Action on Poverty, has today praised ‘the receptiveness demonstrated by the management of the ICC shopping centre on what had become a pressing disability issue. Unresponded to, it could have created even more unhappiness than it unintentionally did’.
Today, the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Joseph Garcia, opened an exhibition to mark 80 years since Operation Torch, the retaking of North Africa from Nazi Germany, which was planned from Gibraltar in November 1942.
