Gibraltar’s representation at the Labour Party Conference continued yesterday evening with the Gibraltar Reception hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo and featuring a keynote speech by the UK Minister for Europe and the Overseas Territories Stephen Doughty MP.
Following on from the United Kingdom’s update to the Highway Code, earlier this year the Government has updated and revised Gibraltar’s Highway Code to ensure compatibility with our own laws and advice on road safety.
The Poppy Appeal is the Royal British Legion’s biggest fundraising campaign held every year in November, the period of Remembrance. The red poppy is a symbol of both remembrance and hope for a peaceful future. Poppies are worn as a show of support for the Armed Forces community.
Equality Rights Group (ERG)/Action on Poverty (AOP) have expressed ‘strong dismay’ at reports that a severely disabled person and their elderly father allegedly had to struggle badly to use the toilet at a downtown shopping centre. The group says this is an ‘unpalatable scenario’ to have to highlight but it ‘illustrates precisely the unacceptable face of everyday discrimination that the disabled can still encounter even today.’
Last week elements of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment (RG) Chain of Command were hosted by Commanding Officer Royal Navy Gibraltar Squadron, Lieutenant Commander Colman and his team to display the capabilities of the Royal Navy Gibraltar Squadron.
