Jan 27 - First commemoration of Holocaust Memorial Day
Over 200 members of the local community, including the Governor, the Chief Justice and several religious leaders gathered in Grand Battery House on Monday morning on the first occasion on which Holocaust Memorial Day has been commemorated in Gibraltar. The Jewish community and the Equality Rights Group were well represented at an event which is celebrated on 27 January because it was on that date that Auschwitz was liberated in 1945.
Jan 27 - Opposition behave as if they did not know their own track record in Government
The Opposition has described the Government’s point by point rebuttal of many arguments in the Leader of the Opposition’s message as “extraordinary”. The only thing that is extraordinary about all this is the failure of the Opposition to get their facts right and their evident lack of knowledge as to the way in which they operated when they were in Government.
Jan 27 - Winston Churchill Avenue arrests (Special Zone) & Magistrates’Court judgement
Officers of HM Customs arrested two men today for refusing to obey a direction given to them to leave a Special Zone regulated under S11 of the Tobacco Act.
