The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia has said that although Gibraltar prefers a treaty to govern our relationship with the European Union, there are fundamental red lines which the Government is not prepared to cross in order to achieve it. Dr Garcia was speaking in Brighton today at the annual party conference of the U.K. Liberal Democrats.

In his press release today the Minister for Taxation has asserted that there ‘has been no change in the way the Tax Office applies the student income exemption’ and furthermore that the issues students had been facing had ‘no connection to any Budget measures’.
Following the GSD’s recent comments on the taxation of student summer jobs, the Government have issued a statement clarifying tax rules within student income exemption.
